Little beasts - 01:24 pm

20 Sep 2009

The Xakanaxa pride were no more than 2 kilometres from our campsite.
With their bellies full there was little chance of them being active.
They lay spread out, digesting their meal.
It is uncertain what they killed but it must have been large as the entire pride were bulging.

The pride looked peaceful but kept on constantly twitching. Looking closer it was clear that they were being mobbed by hundreds of small biting flies.
These flies are a constant irritation and seemed to be getting to one of the males.
He tried everything to rid himself of these little beasts but with no luck.
The flies were definitely getting the better of this king of the jungle.
His only respite was that with the setting sun the flies would probably leave him and move onto nearby vegetation for the night. But they would return tomorrow.
